For both Unit 1 and Unit 1a, you will be required to submit one audio recording (10 minutes or less) of you using counselling skills. We will give you full guidance around this exercise.

Learn about the different counselling skills theories, and how these approaches can be used.
Unit 3 - Diversity and Ethics in the Use of Counselling Skills
Explore and expand your knowledge of how the ethical framework advises our use of counselling skills and how diversity impacts on the counselling relationship.
Unit 4 - Counselling Skills and Personal Development
Reflect on your personal and future development, identify potential sources of support as you use counselling skills, and how personal values and background affect counsellors.

You have 12 months from the date of purchase to complete the course. Moving quickly, you can complete the course in as little as 16 weeks.
Once you have registered and we’ve taken your first payment, you will receive access to our online learning platform to take the course wherever you are.

The only entry requirement is that you are aged 18 or over.
The Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills is assessed by assignment – there are no exams.
Your tutor assesses your assignments, provides detailed feedback, and – if needed – gives you further resources to develop your understanding.
Your tutor’s assessments are double-checked by another of our counselling trainers and by NCFE, the national awarding organisation.

No. To become a counsellor, you need to pass a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. Before you can apply for the Level 4 Diploma, you need to have completed a Level 3 Counselling Skills qualification (which we offer).
The Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills is an ideal preparation for the Level 3 course.
